Following a fruitful experience exhibiting as part of the Reimagining The Archive exhibition at St.Fagans last weekend, and my live brief completed, it was back to the studio ready to immerse myself in my major project.
Over the past few weeks parallel to completing the live brief, I’ve been developing my project concept alongside continuing research, considering colour pallettes, processes, materials, collating a strong bank of imagery to work with, and pattern making (4 weeks into major it’s been a busy month!)
Intrigued by botanical forms I’ve decided to narrow my project focus to Wild Florals and Foliage found in my home of Pembrokeshire. Integral to my project are research trips back home, the time to absorb nature and inspiration through a variety of woodland walks; their silhouettes, forms and natural compositions are all something that excite me.

As a designer/maker I’m instinctively intrigued by how I can transform the natural botanical forms into materiality. I’m passionate to continue to explore working with luxury materials such as metals and glass, alongside exploring working with a new materiality; concrete. Inspired by the concept of bringing the botanicals from outdoors into interiors, I strive to create a range of luxury surfaces for interiors, commercial spaces and visual merchandising. After an enriching experience of exhibiting my work I’m inspired to continue to work with 3D objects alongside, creating 2D panels/ surfaces.
For my degree show exhibition I plan to present my 2d wallpanels and 3d objects as a vertical garden wall created from materiality. Imagine luxury metal florals springing to life from concrete bases, or a copper leaf leaning down a wall?
It’s still in the very early stages, with much development to go, but here’s a sneak peak of some of my laser cut motifs that I plan to develop into hard materials:
