Architectonic

‘Architectonic’ was a set brief to create a 3d object taking inspiration from forms and structures.

Throughout the project I took inspiration from structures from architecture to create geometric patterns and the forms I created through paper folding techniques.  During the project I began to question how I could put a pattern within my paper folded structures, rather than printing onto the surface I began to laser cut out of the surface.

For my final outcome I decided to create a functional 3D object. I explored the idea of lighting and how the pattern would be projected into the interior using light.

The lighting was water jet cut out of aluminium and consisted of 16 individual panels which slot together in a sequence to form the final structure.
